Common Knowledge Research Services has created this privacy policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to panelists' privacy. The following statement discloses the information gathering and dissemination practices for our Web site, http://www.techknowledgepanel.com, as hosted by Common Knowledge. To protect panelists' privacy, Common Knowledge routinely reviews laws governing privacy practices, and not only updates its security according to these practices, but also provides additional safety and security measures.
Reviewing changes in our privacy statement is the sole responsibility of the panel member. Notification of changes will be posted on the TechKnowledge Opinion Panel Web site (http://www.techknowledgepanel.com) for review, but TechKnowledge Opinion Panel, a division of Common Knowledge Research Services, and its partners, clients, and affiliates are not responsible if a panel member is not aware of the changes before participating in additional surveys.
Company Background
The TechKnowledge Opinion Panel is owned and operated by Common Knowledge Research Services, a marketing research firm founded in 1988 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The panel is made up of IT professionals who have agreed to participate in online research panel surveys.
Individuals join via the TechKnowledge Opinion Panel Web site or via various other Web sites through which Common Knowledge has an agreement to invite potential panelists. Adult panel membership is limited to individuals 18 years of age or older who reside in the United States or Canada.
How the Information Provided by Panelists is Used
Common Knowledge's No Solicitation Promise means that all responses are held in aggregate and individual responses will never be used for advertising or selling purposes. Panelists are not responsible for buying any product or service at any time, nor will any company solicit panel members as a result of their joining the TechKnowledge Opinion Panel.
The member profile asks questions about the respondent and his or her professional responsibilities. Questions such as date of birth, gender, and employment are intended for the sole purpose of corresponding demographic criteria to specific types of survey topics. Email addresses will be used only to notify panelists of upcoming survey opportunities, notify them that they have won a prize, or to communicate other relevant news. Name, address, city, state, and zip code are used to geographically identify panel members and to send reward checks by postal mail.
- We use information from member profiles to pre-qualify individuals for future market research studies. Individuals who are contacted are asked, but are never required, to take any survey. They may simply ignore the invitation they receive.
- Individuals are allowed to modify their contact, demographic, and other information.
- All information is analyzed in aggregate and grouped in anonymous categories. No survey responses are reported by name or address.
Accessing Personal Information
We strongly encourage members to keep their profile information current. This includes not only contact information but also employment and other information which is vital to the survey process. To update profile information, go to the TechKnowledge Opinion Panel Web site, log in to the Members page, and select 'update member profile' from the menu.
Safety and Security
Response data is stored on our secured server which allows only TechKnowledge Opinion Panel to invite panelists who match specific criteria to participate in surveys. This type of query is completely automated and panelists are invited via email by the TechKnowledge Opinion Panel to participate in secure surveys.
The information panelists provide about their household is strictly confidential and will be protected at all times by the TechKnowledge Opinion Panel. Although not required by law, we have added additional security through Comodo, a security and confidentiality service.
Registration and survey information sent to us is encrypted using the highest encryption technology legally available, SSL (Secure Socket Layering). This encryption technology is based on the same technology used to protect nuclear missile codes. This guarantees that there will never be any unauthorized use of the information provided to us.
